AATBIT Labs

Two engineers, two products

AATBIT Labs is a small, bootstrapped team in Kolkata, India. The name is new; the work behind it goes back to 2021. We build and run BetterMerge and Tenwrite, and share some of the tools we make along the way as open source.

How it started

  1. Late 2021

Rupam starts building a mail merge add-on for Google Sheets. It grows into BetterMerge.

  2. 2021 to 2025

Rupam builds and runs everything alone. Along the way he builds Tenwrite to publish his own Google Docs to WordPress, then opens it up for everyone.

  3. Early 2026

Aakash Howlader, an old college friend of Rupam’s, joins as co-founder and takes over Tenwrite. Rupam focuses on BetterMerge.

  4. Mid 2026

Until now, each product stood on its own. We bring them together under one name: AATBIT Labs.

The name

আট (aat) is the Bengali word for eight, written ৮. BIT is the smallest unit of digital information, and eight bits make a byte. The name pairs where we come from with what we do. Our mark is eight dots, one for each bit.
